Lubbock Police Department displays over 150 Cars for Auction

The Lubbock Police Department had their latest auction last November 12, 2011. The auction started at 10am and took place at the Lubbock Wrecker Service, 3209 Slaton Highway.

The department displayed and auctioned over 100 to 150 abandoned vehicles. The same number of cars and vehicles are sold and auctioned every month. Few of the cars that were on auction on November 12 were as follows: Honda/Acura Civic ’95, Ford Taurus ’93, Pontiac Bonneville ’99, Ford Escort ’01, Dodge 1500 ’94, Chevrolet Baretta ’93 and Chevrolet Venture van ’02.

The department proposed rules that bidders were required to follow. All bidders were obligated to register before 10:30 and auction gates were opened Saturdays until 6:30pm. This was for the buyers to have extra time to pull their cars out. They were also given stickers with their individual bid numbers on it for them to wear on the said auction day. Furthermore, the bidders were allowed to bring along only up to two guests.

The auction was made successful and peaceful with the help of police officers that stayed on the auction the whole day. There were also several police video cameras and Lubbock Wrecker’s video cameras for easier look out on what was happening on the location.

Vehicles that are sold in Police auctions are basically vehicles that are vacated and discarded for a long period of time. People are requested to call on local officers if ever they get to see abandoned vehicles. The officers will then check on the vehicles and investigate whether or not they are abandoned or were left unattended for some valid reasons. The money that is produced from auctions is mostly used as funds. Like other government auctions, the money is used for public repairs and improvements.

There are also online auctions that people can transact with. One of the most reliable and known auction sites is eBay. EBay is actually renowned because it sells almost anything under the sun which includes school materials, office materials, furniture, gadgets, clothes and cars. Although there are a lot of cheap auctioned items online, typical auctions are still highly suggested because it is easier and safer to know the real quality of the items when one can see it personally.

As for the people in Lubbock, TX, they do not need to look further because the police department holds auctions every month.
